EPP
- IT IS NOT possible keep the same precission in
construction of EPP models as for classic balsa models. Consider this fact as tax
for almost invulnerability, easy repairability and quick completation of these
models. Although, this tax is not so high.
Sticking – all sticking are made by mid thick
cyanacrilic glue with activator (both from the same producer is best), it is
possible to stick with PUREX too. Let you stick only this way (you have more
time to do some corrections): deposit the glue onto one of sticked surface, put
both parts together and apply the activator. Using of stabilization desks is
very effective (see lower).
Painting – fully
described in atteched construction manual, so only in short. If you wish your plane look
realistic and with the minimal weight addition, use water-based colours. White
mate Balakryl is very proven, you can prepare desired hue by adding of
water-based painting colours. Mix with water in 1:1 ratio (colour:water) for EPP
parts and 4:1 for balsa parts. Using of more colour instead of water may cause
unnecessary weight addition. Water evaporation can be accelerated by hairdryer.
You can place plane into appropriate paper box with two holes, one for
hairdryer, second for outcomming air. Drying is very quick with this helpful
equipment. Permanent marker can be used for ailerons, flaps
or surface panel's composition painting.
Installation of engine – engine is placed in plane
body axis, no offset is necessary. Placing of engine is very easy, stick four wood
wedges on engine case with glass tape and place whole complete into plastic tube
in tail of plane body. Make it this way for occasionaly taking
apart and cooling of engine. Here is foto.
Burning out of grooves – burn out the grooves by solder with 1,5 - 2,5mm Cu wire sling along steel ruller.

Satbilization desks – it is almost waste material
from chipboard etc. It helps keep right angels and symmetry during construction
without complicated measurement. Just appose, check up and stick or burn. Using
of these desks is helpful practically during whole construction. A lot of
samples for illustration is here.
Ideal size of desks is 500mm x 100mm x 20mm, 12 pieces.
Servos - we use Hitec HS-55 for flying in electro-version planes. For slope gliding anyone standard type servos are useful. All planes can be controled by 2 servos only.
Propulsion
- it is story for itself.
Hole for accumulators can be
burned by solder again. Locking
is made by self-sticking dry zipper tape. It MUST BE be sticked by cyanacrylic
glue for strength. As well as self-sticking labels.
Power wires - 1,5 – 2,5 mm Cu soft wire is
sufficient.
Currents, rotation speed, airscrew : range of
maximal current values is about 16A (airscrew Graupner 6x5" grey) on the
ground with 16 000 rpm, or about 14A with airscrew Graupner
6x4" grey. Tyto values can be achieved only with MEGA 16/15/4 engines. It
is AC engined with SPEED
400 size and weight. Good choice is MEGA 22/10/5 too, it is more powerful and
bigger engine (you nedd use wider plastic tube for fixing). You can use 18A
speed regulator up to 9 cells.
Sticking of elevator -
elevator MUST NOT be in position of wing affect (in obscuration of wing). ALL
exceptions are mentioned in construction manual.
Sticking of cannards - nothing to note, keep wing base line angel.
Deflections
- as much as possible (elevator), plane must be able to fly at high
angels of attack, like real jet fighter. Size the moving elevons of elevator at
40mm approximately.
Engine, speed controler, wires, connectors - here
is sample of whole assembly, which can be pulled into tail tube as it is.
Flying with push-powered plane - plane with this power type is more "clever" and easily controled than pull-powered plane. Our planes can be flied by partially experienced RC pilots, which tried to fly some other powered models.
Sometimes you are supposed to make some corrections with elevator trim, although you keep construction approach with maximal precision. It is caused by aerodynamic function of plane's body parts and lerkses. If extensive elevator trims must be used, use weight center possition shifting instead by moving of accupack.
